# Auto backup is not working

## Items to verify when auto backup is not working.

**Applies to all instrument software.**

**Problem:** Auto Backup is not working

**Possible Cause(s):**

- **Embedded Software:** the instrument should be On at the time of the backup
- **External PC Software:** the software must be running in the PC and must be connected to the instrument.
- **Backup location is on the Network:** the user whose credentials are used for mapping the network drive should have the following Windows permissions on the network folder. 
    - Read & Execute
    - List Folder Contents
    - Read
    - Write
