Automation initialization issue
Instrument does not initialize or requires excessive reinitializations and the issue is intermittent.
At times, the hard stop feature of the needle assembly can interfere with the carousel and prevent it from initializing correctly. It is important to understand the purpose of this component in order to troubleshoot safely and effectively.
The hard stop is a mechanical safety feature designed specifically for systems equipped with a heated cable. Its function is to limit carousel rotation and prevent a full 360° turn, which could twist, stress, or damage the heated system cable. By restricting rotation, the hard stop helps protect both the cable integrity and overall system reliability.
On carousels that are not configured with a heated system, this rotational limitation is not required for cable protection. In these non-heated configurations, the hard stop feature may be removed according to the instrument’s service instructions, allowing the carousel to rotate a full 360°. This can resolve initialization issues caused by unnecessary mechanical interference while maintaining safe and proper operation for the specific system configuration.
At time, the hard stop feature of the needle assembly may be interfering with the carousel causing an initialization issue. The hard stop is a physical part designed for heated systems to prevent the carousel from turning 360 degrees damaging the heated system cable. On carousels that do not have the heated system, the hard stop feature and be removed to allow the carousel to spin 360 degrees.
