How to Delete Instrument Log Files on An Automation System

Instruments may be slow to respond which could be caused by a very large log file. Follow the steps to delete the log files. These steps apply to the following instruments: R837, Density Meter, and Refractometer

1. If working on an automation system, first close the automation software by clicking the red X on the upper right corner of the screen.
2. Select Menu
3. Select Operational Parameters
4. Select Instrument Configuration (or DDM Control depending on the software version on your instrument)
5. Select Control Panel
6. Select Windows Control Panel
7. Open Windows Explorer
 
If a Density Meter:
1. On the C: drive, you will see a folder for Density
2. Open the Density Folder
3. Select but do not open the Log Folder
4. While holding down the Shift key, press the Delete key to delete the Log folder. 
5. You will be asked to confirm the delete, answer yes
 
If a Refractometer:
1. On the C:/ drive there is a Refractometer folder which you will open and also delete the Log folder.
2. Open the Refractometer Folder
3. Select but do not open the Log Folder
4. While holding down the Shift key, press the Delete key to delete the Log folder. 
5. You will be asked to confirm the delete, answer yes
 
If an Automation:
1. On the C:/drive, there is a R837 folder which you will open and also delete the Log folder.
2. Open the R837 Folder
3. Select but do not open the Log Folder
4. While holding down the Shift key, press the Delete key to delete the Log folder. 
5. You will be asked to confirm the delete, answer yes
 
Once the log files are deleted, close out of Windows Explorer by clicking on the X on the upper right of the window and return the to instrument's main menu.
