Minimum computer requirements for Rudolph PC as of 03OCT2024
The following specifications must be used to ensure proper operation of the Rudolph PC software:- Operating systems supported: Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 10 32-bit,Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11.
- .NET Framework 4.7.2 and .NET 3.5 (including .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
- Processor requirements: Core i3, i5 or higher processor
- Memory requirements: 4GB
- Hard drive space requirements: The software uses approximately 300MB. Additional space would be required for result files you save on the PC. The size of the result files can vary, and the size of the logo greatly influences the size of the file. A typical result file without a logo is typically around 5KB to 7KB.
- Minimum/Maximum display size:
- Rudolph PC Autopol for S2 and S3, Rudolph PC Refractometer for the J457 and Rudolph PC Density require the resolution to have a height greater than 700 pixels.
- Rudolph PC Autopol for S4, Rudolph PC Refractometer for the S5 J157, J257 and J357 require the resolution to have a height greater than 900 pixels.
- Graphics cards: No special graphics cards are required.
- Requirement for RS232 (serial): One serial port required. If the PC does not have a serial port, the included USB to serial cable (Rudolph item number P23065) can be used to provide the required RS232 port. NOTE: Serial cable not required for Rudolph PC Density.
- Cables:
- Rudolph PC Autopol for S2, S3 and S4 series Autopol - Null Modem cable, Rudolph part number P20372.
- Rudolph PC Refractometer J457 and Refractometer series 5 (S5) - Null Modem cable, Rudolph part number P20372.
- Rudolph PC Density – Crossover Ethernet cable, Rudolph part number P28780
- Rudolph PC AutoFlex – 4 or 8 port USB-RS323C hub.
- Network: Ethernet port to connect to the end user’s network if the end user chooses to network the computer. Any standard Ethernet NIC may be used. NOTE: Rudolph PC Density will require the computer to have a second Ethernet port.
- MS Office: There is no specification for the version of MS Office. MS Office is not required.
Please note the following:
If the PC is allowed to go into sleep or hibernation, the serial communications between the instrument and the Rudolph PC software will be interrupted. To re-establish the communications, it may be necessary to exit the Rudolph PC software, cycle power on the instrument and then restart the Rudolph PC software.
- Windows update reboots may interfere with the instrument to Rudolph PC software serial
communications. You may need to restart the instrument and restart the software to re-establish communications. - The Rudolph PC software must be installed by an account with local administrator rights on the PC.
- There is no preference of whether the computer is a laptop or stand-alone PC.
