Polarimeter - Unstable Reading

Step-by-step procedure for resolving unstable readings when measuring samples.

  1. Begin by removing and cleaning the splash glass assemblies (clean both).
  2. Replace the lamp with a new lamp.
  3. Test the instrument reading using the quartz plate (QCP).
    1. If the reading is stable: the issue is likely the sample cell. Unscrew and clean the sample cell glass, inspect the O-rings and replace as needed, and ensure there are no air bubbles in the sample cell when obtaining readings. If the issue still persists, the instrument will need to be returned for repair.
